[NI00003] See Census 1870 Warwick PO for Sarah's middle initial. The "E" is also listed in the 1886 land transfer referenced in Augustine's notes.

1900 Delaware, New Castle, ED63 Middletown (images 21 and 22 of 50),
enumerated on June 11. House 244/247 (not clear)
In the household of James T. Savin, we find Sarah. The image was very difficult to read but it appears she claims to have had 3 children and either 2 or 3 were still living. We know that James T. was living in 1910 but doubtful about George C. Savin. He is apparently dead prior to the 1920 census as his wife is remarried to George P Wallace.

In the 1850 census we find among others two girls, Ann, 10 years old and Louisa, 5 years old. Sarah would have been 12 years old when Ann was born. Louisa is the same age as James T.

Augustine Savin found in:

[NI00004] Mt.Olivet Methodist Cemetery in Warwick, MD has a stone for a George Savin, son of George and Mary Savin - November 4, 1899 - Oct. 12, 1918. Could this be an error? It seems very likely that this is the George Savin in the 1900 Census with a George born in 1889. The stone is quite worn as well and can account for the discrepancy.

James and Whilmina Savin (and son, James) have in the household a Joseph Bowman, 25. On page 23 of 34, visit 23 we find a Joseph and Annie Bowman. He is 60 and she is 34 with three daughters and two sons.

Augustine and Sarah sell property to Joseph Bowman Jr in 1886. The Annie in visit 23 could be the daughter of Augustine and Sarah.

[NI00026] Tombstone at Mt. Olivet is to the left of James and Christiana Savin's stone. In July, 2001 between their stone and a tree with dark purple berries. White four sided limestone monument, rectangular shape on it's side, straddles two white limestone braces on top of a larger flat limestone base. Unusual style. private. However, this is the best connection I have found between the
possible namesake for our Benedict and his possible father, John. This
Benedict Craddock's father and brother (Daniel and Richard) are listed in
the 1790 Census in the same hundred, North Sassafras, with William Savin
and a Peregrine Savin. This hundred only has about 58 households.(this
hundred lies between Cecilton and De, between the Little Bohemia and
Sassafras OR in other words where Greenspring is)

1828, January 10 - Thomas Savin thirteen years old

Page 29

1833, February 20 - Elizabeth or Betsy Savin (NOTE: Sallen is marked through and Savin written-in in every instance of the surname) Legitimate wife of John Savin, a journeyman of Warwick: a member of the Methodist church formerly in which she was said to have been baptized.. She received the holy Sacrament of Baptism Sub conditione, and the holy Sacraments of the Sick having made the Profession of her belief in the Catholic faith the 15th of February 1833.
Francis Varin

(NOTE: "Sub conditione" means conditionally and usually refers to someone being baptized who was previously baptized by a different denomination and that baptism is in question, thus the new baptism is conditional upon reception into the Catholic Church; Sacrament of the Sick is probably anointing of the sick - prayer for the sick)

The connection of this Howard to George C. Savin is a bit tenuous.
In the 1900 DE New Castle Census ED63, image 27 of 50 in Middletown, house
305/306??? (this image is poor and the numbers are almost undecipherable),
enumerated June 13 we find a son of Geo. C. and Mary? (unclear) Savin as follows:

H??? (perhaps Howard or Harvard since we have seen both those names around -
the record looks like 5 or 6 letters. The first is certainly H and the 4th
letter looks more prominent), I can't read sex (but it appears to be the
start of an "M") or relationship to father (but it looks like the first
letter has a fragment of "S" so with its placement between a son an
daughter, I would say it is a son), b. Feb 1892?, aged 8, all born in MD,
attended school (all else unreadable).

At http://ftp.rootsweb.com/pub/usgenweb/de/kent/military/kcivreg3.txt
We find a Harvard Savin, born February 14, 1892 from Warwick, MD
The date matches with the 1900 son of George C. Savin as does the location. It is possible that Harvard is really Howard. I am operating on this assumption. The original WW1 registration should be inspected.

[NI02146] See James T Savin's father notes for more census detail.
1880 MD Cecil 1D ED8 image 22 of 34, we find a James (36?) and Whilmina (30) Savin with son, Eugene (3). Also a Joseph Bowman is boarding. Bowman is mentioned in a land transfer of 1886 from Augustine and Sarah E. Savin in Warwick. THis is problematic in that the later Augustine appears to be the father of James T. while the James of Whilmina appears to be a different James then James T. since they both appear in the 1880 in the same neighborhood.

1910 DE New Castle ED98, image 26 of 26, enumerated April 29 - We find Bessie (15) and Sarah A. Savin (20) living as boarders in the household of:
James W. Lovegrove (50) Head, married 9 years, he and his parents born in DE, Sawyer at a sawmill, everyone wage labor, all members can read and write
Georgiana (48) Wife, married 9 years, 0 children, 0 living, she and her parents born in MD

Bessie Savin (15), she is born in De, parents in MD, seamstress at overall factory
Sarah A. Savin (20), she and her parents born in MD, seamstress at overall factory

It may be that Bessie and Sarah A. are related to Margaret Davis as their grandmother was Sarah E. Davis (born about 1828) and would have been a contemporary to Margaret.

Sarah is the only Savin I have uncovered in my line. She and James were married in Elkton, Cecil, MD, in 1843 and had 6 children: John R., Thomas A., another brother and three sisters whose names I don't have access to currently. The three sisters and John R. moved to NJ. The two brothers' whereabouts are a mystery, but family lore states one of them moved to Texas. Does any of you have information on a Sarah Savin who married a Postell? If so, please let me know - I am interested in pursuing her line.
